Bilateral Talks Highlight Social Security and Migrant Worker Exchange
Dubai: Pakistan and the Philippines have expressed mutual interest in exchanging knowledge on social security systems and migrant worker programs, officials said following a bilateral meeting in Dubai.
The discussion took place between Pakistan’s Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Secretary of the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers. Both sides explored opportunities to learn from each other’s practices in managing migrant labor and social protection schemes.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain highlighted the role of Pakistan’s vocational training commission and key institutions under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, including the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation and the Bureau of Emigration.
The Philippine delegation provided an overview of its pension and social security systems, as well as pre-departure training programs for migrant workers.
Both countries agreed to maintain close engagement and continue sharing information on migrant worker registration, training, and reintegration initiatives.
